Since Hermes began as a harness workshop specializing in the finest horse harnesses and bridles in 1837, Hermes has transfixed the world with its supreme craftsmanship and elegant designs. From examining and cutting leather to hand-stitching and melding hardware, highly trained artisans craft each Hermes piece. Many of the Hermes craftsmen have studied at Paris' Ecole Gregoire-Ferrandi, and are required to pass various exams prior to constructing their first Hermes handbag.
